A Compassionate, Multi-Specialty Practice

One of Dental on Central’s greatest strengths is its multidisciplinary model. Instead of referring patients across town for different procedures, their team offers comprehensive services in one location. This includes:

  • General Dentistry for routine checkups, cleanings, and preventive care.

  • Special Needs Dentistry tailored for patients with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and severe dental anxiety.

  • Oral Surgery for extractions, implants, and corrective procedures.

  • Prosthodontics for complex restorations and cosmetic improvements.

  • Endodontics for root canal treatments.

  • Sedation Dentistry with multiple comfort options.

Their provider team includes Dr. Anthony Herro, Dr. Michael Jejna, Dr. Joseph Santoro, Dr. Tamer El-Gendy, Dr. Percy Twine, and anesthesiologists Dr. Ellison Herro and Dr. Caitlin Waters. This collaboration ensures patients receive the right expertise at every stage of care.

To support efficiency and accuracy, Dental on Central uses paperless records, digital imaging, and electronic charting—allowing the dental team to quickly share and review patient information for seamless treatment planning.

Consistent Praise from Real Patients

Patients across review platforms repeatedly highlight the clinic’s balance of technical skill and genuine kindness.

One reviewer shared:

“Dr. J is very professional and has a warm personable manner… Each procedure that Dr J has performed has turned out beautifully.”

Another praised their oral surgery experience:

“Just got my wisdom teeth removed… no swelling and only slight pain… the receptionists here are so sweet, kind and patient.”

For families with unique care needs, Dental on Central has become a trusted partner:

“They are quick, professional, kept us well informed and incredibly knowledgeable about working with patients with a variety of disabilities.”

These reviews reveal a pattern—patients trust the care they receive here, not only for the results, but for the way they’re treated throughout the process.

While the overwhelming feedback is positive, one reviewer noted concerns about post-procedure communication. Even so, the majority of patients report excellent follow-up and clear treatment guidance.

Oh My Goodness!!! I cannot even explain how terrified I have been of the dentist. Unfortunately this resulted in not going for a long time, and my teeth suffered. I finally took the first step today in getting my dental routine back on track. The hygienist who took X-rays and an exam on my teeth was extremely kind and made me feel so at ease and Dr. Herro was so helpful and non judgmental. I Thank you both!! Dental On Central is absolutely fantastic, and please check them out if you are needing a dental office with kind and knowledgeable staff. Kindly, Jennifer Nancarrow

If I could give this clinic negative stars I would. Their lack of empathy and patient care is astounding. The staff is uninformative and unwilling to address future patients in a non-condescending manner. The office manager literally only came out to delegate when I mentioned reaching out to Mercy Carr Liason. I will never forget how the staff made my 11 year old daughter feel. Shame on them.

I was referred to this dental office by a provider I trust, so I expected a professional and compassionate experience. What I encountered instead was the complete opposite. I called to schedule treatment under sedation, as I have multiple dental issues I’ve been putting off and was finally ready to address. The receptionist immediately asked about my insurance. When I explained my coverage, she told me they don’t accept it. I calmly explained that wasn’t an issue and that I planned to pay out of pocket. Despite that, she refused to schedule an appointment. When I asked to speak with a manager and requested her name, she told me there was no one else available, refused to identify herself, and then placed me on hold indefinitely until I eventually hung up. The interaction was dismissive, unprofessional, and frankly concerning. There was no attempt to help, no explanation, and no basic level of respect. What makes this especially troubling is how this office presents itself publicly. They advertise specialized care for patients with high anxiety, autism, and other special needs, and emphasize compassionate, supportive treatment - including sedation for comfort. Based on my experience, that messaging does not align with how I was treated. If this is the level of care patients receive before even being seen, it raises serious concerns about how vulnerable patients are actually supported. I would strongly encourage others, especially those who are anxious or seeking a more compassionate environment to consider this carefully before choosing this office.

My 3 children have been coming here 8 years. They're autistic. I confirmed with our insurance that they work with Dental on Central before scheduling their appointment, confirmed MONDAY- 4 days ago- they're scheduled for 3/31. Received a text today my kids appointments are canceled and they're no longer in network with their insurance. Not even capable of calling, just a text. I asked about cash pay and asked if they can refer us to a new pediatric dentist that works with special needs. No response. These are disabled CHILDREN! Not a NUMBER. it took forever to find a dentist, we come from Mesa to see them, so thanks for dropping the ball via text.

The team at this dental office is truly wonderful, polite, kind, and incredibly patient. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed and cared for. While there was a small mix-up with the appointment prep for my moms visit, they quickly acknowledged it and made everything right without hesitation. That level of accountability and customer care really stood out to me. Based on their professionalism and the way they handled the situation, I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for quality dental care with a compassionate team.

Expertise Backed by Advanced Technology

Dental on Central has built a reputation as one of the few practices in Phoenix with a deep commitment to special needs dentistry. Dr. Anthony Herro, who also teaches at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, leads this area with a focus on compassion and adaptability.

Sedation dentistry is another core strength. They offer:

  • Nitrous oxide for mild relaxation.

  • Oral sedation in pill or liquid form for moderate anxiety control.

  • IV sedation for deeper comfort during complex treatments.

These options, administered by board-certified anesthesiologists, are especially valuable for patients who experience dental anxiety or require extensive procedures in fewer visits.

On the technology side, digital X-rays provide high-resolution images that detect gum disease, bone loss, and hidden decay earlier than traditional methods. These tools also allow for side-by-side visual comparisons during consultations, helping patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options.

Getting Started at Dental on Central

New patient visits are designed for both thorough assessment and convenience. The process typically begins with a comprehensive exam or consultation, where the dentist reviews your oral health and discusses any findings. If time and case complexity allow, a cleaning or treatment can often be done the same day.

What to expect as a new patient:

  • Arrive 15 minutes early for intake paperwork.

  • If you have dental insurance, notify the office at least one day prior to your appointment so they can verify benefits.

  • Bring any recent dental records or X-rays if available.

Hours:

  • Monday: 8 AM–3:30 PM

  • Tuesday–Thursday: 7 AM–5 PM

  • Friday: 7 AM–2 PM

  • Saturday: 7 AM–1 PM

  • Sunday: Closed

Their location on Central Avenue offers easy access from many Phoenix neighborhoods, making it a convenient choice for both families and individuals.
