A Compassionate, Multi-Specialty Practice

One of Dental on Central’s greatest strengths is its multidisciplinary model. Instead of referring patients across town for different procedures, their team offers comprehensive services in one location. This includes:

  • General Dentistry for routine checkups, cleanings, and preventive care.

  • Special Needs Dentistry tailored for patients with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and severe dental anxiety.

  • Oral Surgery for extractions, implants, and corrective procedures.

  • Prosthodontics for complex restorations and cosmetic improvements.

  • Endodontics for root canal treatments.

  • Sedation Dentistry with multiple comfort options.

Their provider team includes Dr. Anthony Herro, Dr. Michael Jejna, Dr. Joseph Santoro, Dr. Tamer El-Gendy, Dr. Percy Twine, and anesthesiologists Dr. Ellison Herro and Dr. Caitlin Waters. This collaboration ensures patients receive the right expertise at every stage of care.

To support efficiency and accuracy, Dental on Central uses paperless records, digital imaging, and electronic charting—allowing the dental team to quickly share and review patient information for seamless treatment planning.

Consistent Praise from Real Patients

Patients across review platforms repeatedly highlight the clinic’s balance of technical skill and genuine kindness.

One reviewer shared:

“Dr. J is very professional and has a warm personable manner… Each procedure that Dr J has performed has turned out beautifully.”

Another praised their oral surgery experience:

“Just got my wisdom teeth removed… no swelling and only slight pain… the receptionists here are so sweet, kind and patient.”

For families with unique care needs, Dental on Central has become a trusted partner:

“They are quick, professional, kept us well informed and incredibly knowledgeable about working with patients with a variety of disabilities.”

These reviews reveal a pattern—patients trust the care they receive here, not only for the results, but for the way they’re treated throughout the process.

While the overwhelming feedback is positive, one reviewer noted concerns about post-procedure communication. Even so, the majority of patients report excellent follow-up and clear treatment guidance.

Our first appointment was just gathering information. My son is a 19 year old man who has profound Autism and is non verbal. The appt was going well it took over an hour to answer questions and fill out more paperwork and meet the doctor who does sedation. My son tolerated this long vist up until the end were he was told are you ready to go home then on the way out was asked to weigh himself he got in the home bathroom like scale and was asked by the employee to turn around the other way he did so but his balance was off and he leaned on against the wall . The employee could not see the weight because his feet covered the numbers. He was asked several times to try different ways and this was frustrating for him because he was doing what was asked but your scale was not appropriate for his size and balance. He had a meltdown because he was let out of the room and asked if he was ready to go home then reversed back to get a weight during his meltdown his arm did make contact with the employee that made him repeat this process of getting his weight over and over . The group home staff and I were told he can't act like that with the doctor. I did not appropriate that comment. Matthew was provoked by telling him its time to go then that was reversed just to get a weight. With profound Autism and specificly my son dont say its over then make him go back and do something else . I bring two Group home staff members for a reason . I need there help and I need them close to control him in these cases so for the future please understand they need to be with in arms reach of him at all times in order to keep everyone safe and not placed seated away from him. Im still also waiting for a call back to schedule his sedation appointment I understand more information was needed from his PCP and previous dentist office . I did contact both offices myself and ask that they expidte this process. Thank you if you have any further questions please feel free to reach out to me .

He is the sweetest man! You never feel his Novacaine shots pretty amazing! Also their assistants couldn’t be any kinder. They are instructors and the leaders in their Field!! They are correcting the errors left from poor dentistry before I found them. It is a great feeling, knowing I am in such professional and caring hands! Thank you, Cynthia Dorsey

We flew across the country to have a in-office dental procedure done for our adult son with severe autism by Dr. Herro and his dental team. What an amazing and thorough team! This is the first time that a dental procedure was not stressful or traumatic for our son or family because Dr. Herro and team are pros in this area. We felt safe, valued and cared for every step of the process from Norma, surgical coordinator, to surgery with Dr. Herro, Dr. Waters, anesthesiology and Dr. Santoro. They each spent time with us after the procedure explaining how things went, answering all of our questions, Dr. Waters offered us her cell for any additional questions, and Dr. Herro even texted us after hours to check in our son post-op. We highly recommend Dr. Herro, Dr. Waters and Dr. Santoro for anyone needing IV sedation for an in-office dental procedure! The physicians and staff were professional and treated us with respect which can be so hard to find with a loved one with severe autism. Truly a full-service dental office that was worth the trip and money for our loved one. The physicians here make you feel accepted and welcome. They are true professionals who obviously have the expertise, and importantly the confidence, with all levels of special needs to make your experience a positive one for your family.

Michelle is hands down the best ever I’ve had to clean my teeth. I used to fear getting cleanings because of pain caused by other dental offices. She’s gentle, empathetic and listens to any concerns or discomfort you may have while making good judgmental suggestions while going above and beyond to make you comfortable. Book an appointment with this friendly office soon and request Michelle she’s in high demand so don’t wait long! -Marcella

Expertise Backed by Advanced Technology

Dental on Central has built a reputation as one of the few practices in Phoenix with a deep commitment to special needs dentistry. Dr. Anthony Herro, who also teaches at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, leads this area with a focus on compassion and adaptability.

Sedation dentistry is another core strength. They offer:

  • Nitrous oxide for mild relaxation.

  • Oral sedation in pill or liquid form for moderate anxiety control.

  • IV sedation for deeper comfort during complex treatments.

These options, administered by board-certified anesthesiologists, are especially valuable for patients who experience dental anxiety or require extensive procedures in fewer visits.

On the technology side, digital X-rays provide high-resolution images that detect gum disease, bone loss, and hidden decay earlier than traditional methods. These tools also allow for side-by-side visual comparisons during consultations, helping patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options.

Getting Started at Dental on Central

New patient visits are designed for both thorough assessment and convenience. The process typically begins with a comprehensive exam or consultation, where the dentist reviews your oral health and discusses any findings. If time and case complexity allow, a cleaning or treatment can often be done the same day.

What to expect as a new patient:

  • Arrive 15 minutes early for intake paperwork.

  • If you have dental insurance, notify the office at least one day prior to your appointment so they can verify benefits.

  • Bring any recent dental records or X-rays if available.

Hours:

  • Monday: 8 AM–3:30 PM

  • Tuesday–Thursday: 7 AM–5 PM

  • Friday: 7 AM–2 PM

  • Saturday: 7 AM–1 PM

  • Sunday: Closed

Their location on Central Avenue offers easy access from many Phoenix neighborhoods, making it a convenient choice for both families and individuals.

Why Dental on Central Stands Out

From the first phone call to the final checkup, Dental on Central delivers a rare combination of high-level dentistry and human warmth. Their integrated team structure means fewer referrals, shorter treatment timelines, and consistent care from familiar faces.

With expertise in sedation and special needs dentistry, they go above and beyond to ensure every patient feels safe and supported. Add to that their commitment to modern technology, accessible location, and patient-focused scheduling, and you have a practice that truly earns its reputation.

If you’re seeking dental care in Phoenix that’s skilled, compassionate, and equipped to meet a wide range of needs, Dental on Central is an excellent choice.
